Mr Alton Neo graduated from Nanyang Technological University in 2010 with honours in accountancy. He is a member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and is a Chartered Accountant Singapore. He is also currently pursuing his Executive Master’s in Business Administration with the University of Hull (UK).
Alton began his career as a tax policy associate with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) after graduation and was involved in the development and review of EDB and SPRING tax incentives. After his stint with MOF, Alton was also the General Ledger accountant with Singapore Airlines before he joined the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SSAC) to develop the Singapore Qualification Programme (Singapore QP). Alton was part of the inaugural team to design the whole Singapore QP and was instrumental in liaising with the publishers, recruiting of ATOs and candidates, administration of the programme, etc. Subsequently, Alton took on the role of Insolvency and Advisory Manager with Ardent Business Advisory and is currently its Consultant.
Besides his professional achievements, Alton is also the Treasurer of the NTU Alumni Club and an active volunteer reviewer for Empact Pte Ltd. In his professional capacity, Alton is also a current member of the Young Professional Accountant Committee (YPAC) at ISCA.
Alton currently develops and teaches Introduction of Financial Accounting, Regulatory Framework of Accounting, Company Accounting, Financial Accounting, Accounting Financial Modelling, Advanced Company Accounting and Corporate Reporting and Financial Analysis in a leading institution.
Alton is also a champion for financial literacy in schools and works with the NIE to develop materials to train students and teachers.
His research interests are in financial accounting, corporate reporting, sustainability reporting and integrated reporting.
